About

Thank you for visiting my website, I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoy making these panoramas.  I’ve been creating photographic images for many years, and always seem to be drawn to the more labor intensive intensive pursuits in this field.  Whether it has been baking film in hydrogen for astronomical photos, light-painting images shot on 4×5 inch sheet film, or creating high resolution 360 degree panoramas,  I find myself doing hard things the hard way!

Most of these panoramas are shot using anywhere from 7 or 8 frames, to as much as 40 or 50 frames.  The panoramas are shot in sections, which are stitched together and then rendered to create the spherical images you see here.  Often 3 to 9 bracketed exposures are made of each section of the scene, and these bracketed exposures are tone-mapped (HDR processed) to preserve detail in all areas of the scene.  When you’re shooting everything in sight there is often an extreme brightness range.

I am available for the creation of 360 degree panoramic images for commercial applications, and can be reached at martin at van hemert dot com.  If you need help with that, well…………
