The North Fork of the Virgin River flows through magnificent Zion Canyon, the 2000 ft (600m) deep "main" canyon in Zion National Park. This panorama was photographed in the lower portion of The Narrows, below the Orderville Canyon junction. As you view the sheer walls of this section, one realizes that a sudden flash flood has nowhere to take the water level other than up! Hikers in slot canyons are wise to make mental note of areas where higher ground can be accessed.
