Mars Panorama

Hi All,

This panorama was captured by the Mars Perseverance Rover Mastcam-Z instrument.  The Arizona State University in Tempe leads the operations of this instrument, working in collaboration with Malin Space Science Systems in San Diego.  The NASA/JPL-Caltech/ASU/MSSS team is to be thanked for making this image possible and available.  Using their stitched image, I made some minor adjustments and rendered it for display in this rotatable panorama format.  Zoom in to view details:

This is probably the farthest point from Utah I’ll feature in a panorama:)

Devils Kitchen

Hello,

It has been quite some time since I the last panorama I’ve emailed.  If you don’t remember subscribing to my emails, please use the unsubscribe option below rather than marking this as spam!  This panorama is of Devils Kitchen, a small pocket of formations which are otherwise unexpected along the Nebo Loop Byway.  I hope you enjoy it:

I would also like to take a moment to wish each of you a Merry Christmas and a happy New Year.  Let’s all hope it is an improvement over this past year!  I hope you might take a few minutes to view this video of the Christmas Story.  Great effort was put into making this as historically accurate as possible.  It is a visual experience; what few words are spoken are aramaic, the language of the time.  Athough considered a dead language, it is still spoken by a few communities.  A scholar in this language was brought in to coach the actors:

Zion National Park

Hi All,

Just before the closure of Zion National Park due to the pandemic, I had the chance to visit for a night panorama. I had hoped for some clouds with stars peaking through, and was not disappointed.  I hope you enjoy it:

For some truly spectacular images of the night sky, please take a moment to visit this site by Royce Bair, whom I consider a friend and an inspiration.

Stay Well,

Martin

Coyote Buttes South

Happy New Year!

Just a few miles south of the Utah Border, the Vermilion Cliffs area boasts some exceptional rock formations:

This area is south of the area containing “The Wave”, an area that has become so popular it’s next to impossible to get a hiking permit for. A hiking permit for Coyote Buttes South is more easily obtained. See the text below the panorama for more information.

Thank You!
