Horseshoe Gallery pictographs in Horseshoe Canyon, Utah

Horsehoe Canyon in Canyonlands National Park contains well preserved examples of Barrier Canyon Style Native American rock art. Hikers on their way to the Great Gallery will encounter the Horseshoe Gallery panel featured above. Although not as large or well know as the Great Gallery, the Horsehoe Gallery is a striking piece of Native American art.

Scrolling via the mouse scroll wheel will allow you to zoom in and view the pictographs quite closely, and reveals details that might be overlooked at first view. It's estimated that these pieces were created between 1900-1400 B.C., although some sources claim dates as early as 3000 B.C. and as recent as 300 A.D. - Martin van Hemert
