Star Trails Over the Bonneville Salt Flats

The Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah has served as a blank canvas for many artists in many mediums. For this panorama, the earth was "allowed" to rotate for about 45 minutes beneath the canopy of of the night sky.

The bright cloud-like ribbon ascending up towards the top of the sky is the Milky Way, which has been blurred by sky movement during this long exposure. The surface texture of the salt flats can provide an intriquing visual study - Martin van Hemert.
