Waikiki Beach Honolulu

The world famous Waikiki Beach, on the southern end of the island of Oahu. -
In the 1920's a canal was built to drain this area, formerly a wetland, and imported sand was brought in to bolster the shoreline. These beaches became the birthplace of modern surfing.

Leaving Honolulu and traveling up the eastern shores of Oahu brings one to Kahana Bay and other regions of lush vegetation. - Martin van Hemert
