While making some updates to the Utah3D.Net website, I spent some time viewing an older panorama which has been a favorite of mine and many others, and realized it was time for a facelift. This scene is in Payson Canyon, along the Nebo Loop Road, in an area called Maple Bench. I’ve reworked it using the original source files and come up with what I feel is an improved image (maybe when I first made it I was in a bad mood?…)
Hope you enjoy it!
The Uinta Mountain Range, east of Salt Lake City, runs from east to west, an uncommon phenomenon in the U.S. The Provo River has its headwaters here, not far from these waterfalls:
Although at an elevation of 9300 ft. (2800 m), this spot is an easy drive from the capital city, and a short walk from the roadway, making it a pleasant afternoon trip. While much of Utah is desert, the Uinta Mountains receive a fair amount of rainfall, promoting vegetation… and mosquitoes, so come prepared with mosquito repellant …. or an extra pint of blood.
