It seems every year around this time I find myself wanting to stand in some stream to shoot photos.  My therapist has been trying to help with this and holds out hope.  In the meantime I offer this little study of a canyon that has been a favorite of mine since my early days:

Between Zion National Park and Kanab, Utah, lies the only major sand dune field in the Colorado Plateau. The name of this State Park describes it perfectly;  the sands here are a warm coral pink color.   Estimates place these dunes between 10,000 and 15,000 years old:

On warm summer days, this spot is popular with dune buggy riders, but during this visit in mid November, I had the place all to myself.  The winds quickly erase traces of visitors, including my footprints approaching the point I shot this at.  I only needed to remove my footprints directly below the camera position.

At this time of year, I find a renewed fascination with things celestial, and  I hope you find this Christmas offering to be more than dots in the sky and sage on the ground.  I very much appreciate all of you who subscribe to these mailings and take a moment out your busy days to view these panoramas.  I enjoy receiving your posts and emails, and try to answer them all  (I’m sure I miss some).
