Autumn Aspens in Alta, Utah

Near the top of Little Cottonwood Canyon, just above Snowbird, lies the town and ski resort of Alta.  This panorama features a view of some distant ski runs, as well as the area’s taller residents:

So there you have it, things that begin with “A”.

I have long held the opinion that Utah has not only some of the most beautiful scenery in the US but without question the absolute most diverse! Alta / Snowbird were some of my favorite places to ski when I lived in Price some 25 years ago. It just might be even more beautiful in Autumn

Hi Dennis, I would agree Utah has some very diverse scenery. One of the starkest contrasts that comes to mind is the variation one can experience driving the short distance from Arches National Park to the La Sal Mountains.

    Thanks,

truly, nature is greatest artist ever: expressing its sorrow through leaves shed in such vibrant colors in preparation of winter; and Utah is the best canvas it chooses.

    Martin,

Your 360 degree photography is some of the most stunning I’ve found on the Web. The detail in your images is unsurpassed. It really is like being there. The only thing missing is the smell of decaying leaves, the wind in my face, and listening to hawks scream overhead.

I think this is your most stunning photo compilation yet. The amount of information stored in my brain from this 360 panorama is at least 100 times what would be stored with a single picture. Watching how the light plays differently across the landscape as I spin around with the mouse is amazing.

Thanks for sharing your work. It’s inspiring!

    Hi David,

It’s good to hear from you again. I really appreciate your comments. This was one of those shots where everything came together as I was hoping… my favorite time of day, favorite time of year, and I didn’t knock the camera over!

Great shot. Showcase how Alta ski area transforms. In winter it offers well-groomed runs for skiers and snowboarders. Your photo show its beauty when not covered by white snow. Amazing how nature create a great place for us to enjoy life.
